Heavy vehicles banned from Abu Dhabi roads for peak hours in Ramadan
ABU DHABI // Drivers of lorries, heavy vehicles and large buses will be banned from using Abu Dhabi roads during peak hours in Ramadan.
Lorries and heavy vehicles are banned from 8am to 10am and from 2pm to 4pm to improve traffic flow during the holy month, the Abu Dhabi Police General Directorate announced on Tuesday.
Workers’ buses transporting more than 50 passengers are banned from 8am to 10am.
Col Mohammed Al Hmeiri, director of the department’s traffic section, said the ban is one of the efforts to reduce the risk of accidents during the holy month on roads, through more traffic control on internal and external roads and in areas with a high amount of traffic congestion.
He urged drivers of the vehicles to abide by the rules.
