Dubai restaurant review: Intersect by Lexus, DIFC

This ambitious, stylish and quirky concept in DIFC is one you need to try - if you haven't already

We’re not going to recommend you dine at Intersect by Lexus simply because we enjoyed our time there.

We want you to check the place out because we’d like know whether you thought it was brought to you by a restaurateur or an automaker, and if you know of other places like it around town that delight and confuse at the same time.

One of only two around the world, Intersect by Lexus is the brand’s extension into something beyond, say, apparel, which is where most car makers’ ambitions linger.

Here, you can hold a funky soirée in the garage-themed room downstairs where the floors, walls and ceilings all house original parts usually found under the hood of a Lexus.

Meanwhile, the rest of the interior upstairs features proprietary spindle grille designed rafters and Lexus motifs adorning the walls and décor, among a variety of seating options, including an upfront bar-styled view of the kitchen, the tables for two or more running down the middle, or the couches for those looking to lounge.

But we digress. The real point of our afternoon at the venue was the business lunch.

As general manager Halil Asar says, “The menu is just as carefully created as the restaurant’s concept itself.”

We would certainly encourage starting off the three-course menu with the bresaola and caramelised green apple or the milk fed veal tenderloin with braised white beans.

For the mains, we tried the Chilean sea-bass glazed with onion purée and accompanied with a hearty serving of pak choi. We’d be remiss if we didn’t mention the “first light co-operation beef short ribs” though.

The production line peculiarity of a name will certainly be the first that order when we revisit – and revisit we certainly will.
