12 salons booked over hygiene violations
The municipality slaps a fine of Dh1,000 on violators. Lack of proper hygiene is the most common offence spotted at salons.
The Abu Dhabi City Municipality issued 12 offences against men's hairdressing salons during a campaign covering 63 outlets in areas falling within the precincts of Al Wathba Municipal Centre.
The campaign was intended to protect public appearances, track hairdressing salons in violation of the municipality's rules and regulations, and enforce laws governing such activities.
It also aims at ensuring compliance with stipulations of public health and hygiene, as well as security and safety in these service facilities.
These inspection campaigns depict the keenness of the Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport to safeguard lives, health and safety of community members, given that such service facilities may pose a threat to customers through using shared tools and cosmetic preparations.
The campaign, conducted as per Law No. 2/2012 governing the general appearance, covered a large geographical area including Baniyas East and West, Al Shawamekh, Al Nahdha North and South and Al Shamkha.
The campaigns, which targeted men's hairdressing salons to maintain the overall appearance, started at the beginning of this month and will continue on a quarterly basis in the mornings, evenings and weekends.
