AJMAN

AJMAN

The name of the smallest among Arab Emirates, most likely, is given in honor of once strong breeding confederation Ajman in which there were about 5 thousand soldiers. There is also other version: in Arab "аjм" means "non Arabs, foreigners, Persians". In this interpretation of "Ajman" it is possible to translate "the non Arab, hostile place". It is smaller of all emirates. Besides own city of Ajman, the principality owns also two enclaves on the land: Manama and Masfut.

The main sight of Ajman is the museum in an ancient fort which till 1970 remained the residence of the governor of the principality. The exposition of the museum includes the archaeological and ethnographic sections, a collection of the ancient weapon, halls devoted to history of police of the Emirates. Reconstruction of life of the past and traditional crafts with use of "waxworks" can cause a particular interest of visitors.
